Foot & Ankle

We diagnose and treat everything from sports injuries to foot and ankle disorders.

Common Conditions

Ankle Sprain

An injury where one or more ligaments in the ankle are sprained.

Symptoms
& Causes
  • When you sprain your ankle, initial symptoms may include severe pain, swelling, and bruising.
  • Ankle sprains can be caused by external impact, missteps, uncomfortable footwear, or excessive exercise.
  • Treatment for an ankle sprain includes applying ice, elevating the ankle, and performing rehabilitation exercises such as ankle rotations, foot movements, and flexion/extension exercises.
  • Plantar Fasciopathy (Plantar Fasciitis)

A condition that causes heel and sole pain due to inflammation from micro-injuries or overuse.

    Symptoms
    & Causes
  • Common causes of plantar fasciopathy include having flat feet, being overweight, wearing high heels for extended periods, loss of heel fat pad with age (especially after middle age), lack of regular walking, or excessive walking.
  • The hallmark symptom is unpleasant pain when the foot first touches the ground in the morning upon waking. Some people describe it as an electric shock-like sensation, while others feel as if the sole is tearing.
  • Hallux Valgus (Bunion)

A condition in which the big toe tilts toward the smaller toes, causing pain.

    Symptoms
    & Causes
  • Symptoms include the big toe bending toward the second toe and the joint protruding inward. The protruding joint becomes irritated while standing or walking, leading to redness, calluses, inflammation, and pain.
  • Patients may also feel that their body is misaligned and have difficulty straightening their back when standing up after sitting.
  • Achilles Tendinitis

    Inflammation of the Achilles tendon.

    Symptoms
    & Causes
  • Causes may include forward slippage of the spine, trauma such as a car accident, age-related degeneration, congenital spinal growth abnormalities, malignant tumors, or postoperative complications.
  • Symptoms include pain in the lower back and sacral area, tenderness when pressing on the spine while standing upright, reduced pain when walking uphill, more severe pain when standing up from lying down or sitting, and a waddling gait when walking.
